So there I was, sitting in the car. The keys were in the ignition, the rear-view mirror and seat adjusted, my seatbelt on. All I lacked was the "L" plates pasted in the windows and a licensed driver in the seat beside me. After a couple minutes, I decided I might as well do something while I waited, and popped in the Psalm tape. I don't know about you, but I can't help myself from singing aloud when I listen to music I know. So there I sat, singing Psalm after Psalm. And the Psalms brought me back to times past. Southside RPC. Choir -- and all the joys and laughs accompanying it. Sitting in the car with my friends after church. Those were the main thoughts streaming through my head. Corny as it sounds, I started tearing up, right there in the middle of a dark parking lot. I miss those things.. and more. The alarm sounded shortly after six, rudely pulling me from my pleasant dreams into reality. I remembered why we had to get up and grumpily ignored the alarm, as well as Maria's cheerful shouts of, "Wake up, wake up!" Ugh. This is crazy. I continued to pretend I was asleep for about 10 more minutes, then groggily stepped out of my cozy bed. At the same time, Maria came back into our room and announced that it was raining and we had permission to go back to sleep. "Praise the Lord!" I couldn't help but say. It made my sisters laugh, but I was completely serious in my statement. I prayed that the rain would stay for at least an hour or two longer. Knowing I had some precious minutes to catch some more sleep, I settled nicely back into bed and began dreaming again until about 8, when mom called us to breakfast. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ About an hour later, after changing twice until I was properly dressed for the unexpectedly cold weather, I was on my way down the street, folding and stuffing papers whilst humming aloud and singing in my head. Lights will guide you home.. and ignite your bones.. and I will try.. to fix you... I glanced across the road to see a man kind of staring at me. I knew if I immediately stopped humming, I'd come across as even more foolish. So I kept right along with the song, grinning slightly. Allen's red and purple starred cap was keeping my head from getting wet, but unfortunately wasn't completely stopping the mist from smearing on my glasses. I couldn't complain, though; it was actually perfect weather for my present task. With my music keeping me company, I finished the two routes and headed for the short-cut home. As I walked across the school field, I was tempted to stop at the playground just ahead and swing for a bit. But as I knew I had things to get done at home, I kept walking. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ After singing "Happy Birthday" to Mrs. Ray, reminiscing with Mary, Maria, and Tamara about years past, eating lunch, and finishing school, I reluctantly prepared myself for my third route. After drinking a cup of coffee to get me going and arming myself with Brave Saint Saturn, I set out. Walking along the rather busy road, I felt that I should be wearing a sign on my back: Yes, I'm a nerd delivering papers. No, you may not run over me. I passed a white-bearded man walking his little white dog for the second or third time. "We're going to have to stop meeting like this!" he said, in his Scottish accent. I laughed quietly in and smiled back at him. Shortly afterwards, I cringed as I saw three school kids coming towards me. I tried to look invisible and get lost in my music, tuning everything around me out. It sort of worked. Nearing the end of my route, I debated with myself whether or not to attempt to stuff another paper in a couple already overflowing slots. I looked up and saw a little boy on a bike coming towards me. Hey... it's Benjamin. Tamara and Allen were following behind him, and Allen tried to run me over. I love my siblings, silly as they are. I couldn't help myself and laughed aloud as I saw a Driver's Ed car pass by at least six times. I shouldn't have been so amused. Driver's Ed is not an amusing experience (for the learner). _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ Mom picked me up as my music changed from Brave Saint Saturn to old Eisley songs. I planned parts of my post on the drive home, glad my rounds were completed. Today was good... but I'm not sure I'm looking forward to this job though an unbearably hot summer. This is for all the people who help make my life special and highlight my days... :o) Walking barefoot, side by side That's my kind of day Laughing so hard I nearly cried That's my kind of day Swinging together, just for fun That's my kind of day Wanting to sit, but deciding to run That's my kind of day Collecting treasures - seaglass and shells That's my kind of day Drinking it in - sounds, sights, and smells That's my kind of day Getting some ice cream, just because That's my kind of day Smiling because of the things that he does That's my kind of day Sharing a secret with a friend That's my kind of day Making a memory that will never end That's my kind of day Recieving a letter that shows you care That's my kind of day Hearing I'm thought of, even when I'm not there That's my kind of day Beginning to go, but staying instead That's my kind of day Looking up at the stars with grass for a bed That's my kind of day Sipping a cuppa, sharing a slice That's my kind of day Accepting a ride home ("they are so nice!") That's my kind of day Talking and giggling, late into the night That's my kind of day Saying a prayer, turning out the light That was my kind of day Yeah, so I was feeling poetic the other day... I would go through and explain some of the stuff, but I think that would kind of ruin the point of writing the poem. Okay, so maybe it's a tad sappy, but it applies and I like it. Imagine for me an entire bin full of yarn. Not just regular yarn, but discounted yarn. Every piece in the bin was only $1.00! WoW. I began grabbing all the lovely, soft pieces, imagining what beautiful things they could become. I must admit I felt rather like a nerd as I loaded my arms with spools of yarn (and a couple new knitting needles) and carried them across the store to the "self check-out" area. Maria and I could hardly contain ourselves on our walk to the car. Once there, we began knitting away for the entire 10 minute car ride home. So yes, I am on an inspired knitting high. (Justine, what have you done?!?) Though, I am a bit sad that I can't do my planned reading at the same time as knitting. We borrowed a bunch of books from people at church and I'm so excited to dig into them. Ha, a bookworm AND an aspiring knittist. :-D I guess I'll just have to listen to music whilst knitting instead. Slightly less educational...but then again, who needs brains anyway!? (besides...most people) song of the post ~ "Hold Me" by Weezer (Yeah, we girls have been on a sorta "Weezer high", as well) Oh and check out Zachary's lovely pictures! Ugh it is SO hot. Like scorching hot. Like "baby, I'm burning up" hot. Like fall over and die hot. Like 85 degrees feels like an ice bath hot. Like burn the instant you walk out the door hot. Like-- ___________________________________________ --We interrupt this delightful program to bring you a special message concerning horrifying circumstances late last night. All turned to disaster when a well-meaning couple invited over three American girls for a cuppa and a chat. The evidence found at the scene was enough to create a hypothesis as to what occured last night. However, it was thanks to these photos, provided by a helpful onlooker, which truly proved our story. As you can clearly see, what started off as innocent play quickly turned into seriously illegial...stuff _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ This message was brought to you by: "Charity's Photography Services" ![]()
Did I mention that it's rather hot?! Song of the post ~ "Pieces" by Sum 41 (yes, Amy is the brillant mind behind my finding this song) Oh and check out Ruth's new blog! Charity | 4:06 pm Comments-[ comments.]

"...Could you sing this to me slow? 'cause I'm thinkin' it's my song" I have had that song stuck in my head since Friday night when Tamara and I listened to it on the train... Okay, I had way too much fun today. I looked at pics on our computer for about 3 hours and uploaded about 20 onto my Myspace. Much laughter, many memories. :o) If you are cool and have a Myspace, you can check them out. If not...sorry 'boutcha. ;-) I have a couple that shouldn't really be posted on a public site that I might email to some friends...hahaha I LOVE MY PHOTOS!!! (more like my family's photos...I'm too lazy to take them most of the time) Annyway...the train. Yes, we girls took the train to the city, where Sarah picked us up and brought us to her house in Geelong. On the way back (inbetween Backstreet Boys songs), we stopped to get movies and junk food. Me and my sisters were just a liiittle too hyper (as usual), and Sarah vowed she was never taking us in public again. ;-] So, loaded with chick flicks and chocolate, we started our night...which lasted very long. We watched "Chasing Liberty" (cheeeesy, but fun to watch), "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" (I cried my eyes out once again...along with Sarah, Maria, and Tamara. Sarah's mom brought us the tissue box after a while), and "The Perfect Man" (hahah! I saw this in theaters with my mom and Mary and just HAD to see it again). Before we started our third movie, Sarah asked if anyone wanted a cuppa. Though when I said I wanted some coffee, she laughed and forbid me to have any! [Humph.] Just after it ended, Sarah's brother, Jono, got home and didn't know we were there. I think he was a little freaked out when he was trying to stumble his way through the dark and all of the sudden heard some random American voices beside him. I won't say precisely what time we finally went to bed because my dad sometimes reads this blog (heh heh heh). But I will say that SOME people *cough cough* Maria and Em *cough cough* stayed up at least 2 hours later (earlier??) than the rest of us. Saturday brought the charity footy game and concert. Zachary took about 300 pictures (am I exaggerating?? You tell me when he puts them all up :-P), so keep checking out his site. Here are some pictures from both last weekend and the weekend before: ![]() Me (affectionately named "Snorty") and Meggy (the giver of my name) at Mickey D's ![]() Umm...LEARN TO SPELL!!! ![]() "He loves me...he loves me not..." ![]() Yesss the coolio GRANDO TV we got to steal...err borrow from the boys. (I think Sarah is playing "eneemy meeny miney mo" to choose a movie) ![]() [Right after I woke up--to wash down the chocolate I had for brekky] Do the Dew! (<--preferrably the kind with caffiene in it!!!!!) ![]() This picture is almost as cool as Lachy's new bike on which we were sitting (shhh! He was gone at the time...) Yesterday afternoon, whilst I was being tortured by the dangerous and deadly doom of Algebra, Casey called me to save the day! She invited me, along with whoever else in my family wanted to go, to meet her for a drink somewhere. I was only too THRILLED at the prospect. But my cruel tutor--Zachary--made it clear that I must finish my algebra first. So I heroicly dashed through the remaining problems, and only made us three minutes late to meet Casey! Fortunately, she was late, as well. So we hopped on over to a booth (after ordering our delicious drinks--compliments on Andrew Doerr's gift card to us! And it WORKED! Yesss), and did what anyone else in the situation would do. Talked and took pictures. ![]() Ha! What an attractive picture! ![]() How beautiful is that?? I think I should go into photography. (*snort*) ![]() Saying: THANK YOU, ANDREW! Well, I must go REALLY start my day. Getting up at 7 am to update my blog was rather silly...though it actually got me out of bed when the alarm went off. It's been a while since that happened, I must admit. ;o) Song of the post ~ "Warning Sign" by Coldplay (Thanks, Amy.) Charity | 7:17 am Comments-[ comments.] |
