Thanks to Graham for reminding me to update about Dikko. Prepare yourselves for a longish post here... Lots to catch up on. We'll see how we go. Dixon's Creek What a wonderful time of fellowship with God's people! I so love extended periods of time with His saints! I'm already looking forward to next year (but I won't start counting the sleeps just yet). So, Allen and Zachary got here on Friday, the 9th. Mom and Dad picked them up at the airport and drove them here. They just...walked in the door! I had to squeal with disbelief, even though I knew they were coming. It was just to unreal that they had just hopped on a plane so last-minutely -- and they even remembered some American goodies for us! (BUT THEY DIDN'T BRING MY LONG LOST CYPU T-SHIRT THAT I'VE BEEN WAITING ON ALL YEAR!!!!! Okay. I feel better now. Sort of.) We finally organized ourselves enough to leave for Dikko, decidedly leaving Dad and Allen behind. Who needs them anyway?? Kidding, of course. A had some schoolwork to finish and send before he was allowed his playtime. They came up the next morning, though. Dad was the speaker, addressing the topic of "Reconcilling Relationships". The talks were wonderful and very useful. Our "young people's" discussion group (let by Matt Glover and consisting of my brother and sisters and I and Meg, Em, and Jamie) was pretty much amazing. Enough said there. Oh, I have to mention the food! Karin and the rest of the Blakston gang did a stupendous job feeding us all weekend -- the entire 6-meals-a-day ordeal. We never even had a chance to be hungry. Other highlights included Josh McEwen's devotions each morning, running around with all my little friends, wonderful talks with the adults, finding my temporarily lost ring (ask me about it sometime), and the real American s'mores on Saturday night, as well as my sister's and I attempting to sing "Last Kiss", accompanied by the band. Oh yes, and apparently the Aussians wanted to hear about how much our family loves their country, so we shared a bit the last morning. Yikes, this is pretty long and I haven't even begun to discuss all the joys of our birthday-ing over the week! I think I'll have to save those grand stories for another time, though... my two cups of coffee have me rather wide awake, but I should drag myself to bed seeing as five people have chatted with me and told me of my excessive need of sleep at this oh-so-late hour! Sheesh...Americans. See yas later (like, really and truly)! song of the post ~ "The Vice and Virtue Ministry" by The Happy Bullets (for and from A) p.s. We say goodbye yet again come tomorrow morning... Charity | 11:00 pm Comments-[ comments.] |
