Welp, The Guys are in Geelong until Friday, and 6/8 of the Blackwood family has stopped to catch our breath. Each day last week and the end of the week before seemed to last so long through the duration of the day. Though looking back, everything kind of seems a blur. We had an excellent, jam packed week. It was kind of like taking a small step out of reality. There was a good combination of work and productivity and just plain ol' fun. And starting Friday, the fun begins once again. Thursday through Monday was spent at Dixon's Creek. Youth Camp officially started Friday night and ended Monday afternoon. With Jono Feldman, Jono Blackston, Josh McEwen, Jane Blackston, and the Fishers as leaders, we couldn't help but have an amazing time. The talks were really encouraging and challenging. I especially enjoyed Josh's talk about "smelling like Christ." (Check out 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 and Ephesians 5:2) Ultimate Frisbee, Footy, and McEwen Ball were also definite highlights of the weekend. The last day, those who were born in the US got to go first in the lunch line. To show our appreciation for our birthplace, we Americans started singing, "I'm Proud to be an American". Hehe, it was fabulous! I think there were actually more Americans present than Australians at Dikko. The camp ended with Matthew Pluke starting a mud fight. I wish I had pictures to show my ENTIRE HEAD covered in mud compliments of Plukie himself. (Arrrgh! What did I do!?!) Allen managed to get mud in Christie's mouth, as well. Let's just say those boys better keep watching their backs... From there we went to our home and then took the girls to their host family's homes. The Boys stayed with us. Luke Denny arrived on Tuesday and we went knocking on doors in McKinnon that day and the next. Thursday the Team didn't do all that much... they had a chance to relax a bit and start planning the Kids Club (like VBS). Friday was more door knocking, this time in Frankston. It was kind of a disheartening couple of hours as we only got 1 or 2 positive responses. But who knows what God will use, right? Friday night was a really fun experience as we got to go to a footy game! The Alelheid Crows (listen to their theme song! ;-))CRUSHED the St. Kilda Saints. Most of us were barracking (rooting) for the Saints, but it was still amazing just to be there for the atmostphere and such. Oh and the city is SO beautiful at night!!! Saturday we went to Aurthurs Seat - the place we went with the McKeemans a couple months ago - and had lunch. The chair lift wasn't in service, but some of us had fun sitting in the seats anyway. After lunch, we went to the Back Beach where all us Americans immediately ran down to the shore, took off our shoes, rolled up our pant legs, and started running along the beach. The Aussies just stood there and laugh at us crazy folk. Good times. :-) The took the ferry across the bay to Geelong Saturday afternoon and the rest of us drove home to resume our semi-normal lifestyle.
