I cannot believe it is already August. School will be starting before you know it. Not to start this post off on a depressing note or anything.... Alrighty now, moving on to bigger and brighter things. I wanted to describe some of the events on youth group camping trip. I was just looking at my blo'od blisters on my finger, compliments of certian males on our trip who insisted on pulling the rope attatched to the tube I was on and then promtply letting go. This resulted in a rather large jerk of the tube. In order to keep from falling off backwards, we on the tube had to grab the handles and let our hands be jerked pretty hard. I got used to it after a while, but I had pretty sore arms afterwards. I also attempted to learn how to water ski. The first time I tried, I managed in some unknown way to stand up on the ski's. The other three or four times I tried, I fell to the side and didn't even come close to standing up. But it was definitely a blast to try. Friday night, we all gathered around the camp fire for some silly songs, sharing time, Psalms, and then s'mores. It was wonderful to just sit there in the dark sharing our hearts. I won't even try to describe all that was said because it's one of those things that you defintely have to be there. We also had a lot of fun playing a few games of Ultimate Frisbee. I was pretty bad at it. I sort of kind of (in a way not really) got better by my third time to play it. I was kind of depressed--well that's not the right word, but something like that--when I got picked last for the teams (which I learned from a pretty reliable source was a planned event) and only one or two people even attempted to throw the frisbee to me. I was already pretty exhausted and grumpy that evening, though. So, I probably would have had a lot more fun with a better attitude. All in all, the trip was definitely my favorite YG event I've ever been to. I wish I could say I hope to go next year, but it's most likely an impossible goal, so I won't get my hopes up. I've been thinking about something lately - common courtesy. Actually, it's not so "common" anymore. In thinking and talking about it, I'm mainly concerned with the lack of courtesy from guys. I don't mean to pick on you guys...all right, maybe I do. ;-) I've just commented a few times that I had more 8-year-old boys opening doors (etc) for me at Covfamikoi than any other age guys. Well, I'm sure some older men did it, too. But it was just more noticable and impressive when the younger boys did it. I just think that it is really nice when boys are, well, gentlemen! I mean, is it too much to ask of guy to simply stand back and let a gi'rl go first? I know a few guys at Covie did it very nicely for me and a couple other gi'rls a few times. But, I might point out that it was only after I made a 'big deal' about it. Alrighty, I think I'm done with my lecturing to the males. I just want to say that if I ever get married and have little boys, I'm going to do my best to teach them young to be gentlemen. Well, my cousin is standing here combing my hair and waiting for me to get off, so I better end this post. Sorry it's been a while since I've updated. I probably won't be able to do much updation this week because my cousin is here then we have our long-awaited Blackwood Family Reunion. Hope you all are having a fantastic day! :-D Quote of the post: "The more you act like a lady, the more he'll act like a gentleman." --Sydney Biddle Barrows ^-^ Okay, so I guess we gi'rls need to do our part, as well.
