I would tell you what has happened in my life while I've been "absent", but that'd take way too long. But I do want to say that last weekend was incredible! Friday night Laura Soma came, we had the Talent Show, and Allen, Laura, and I stayed up till 4:30 AM that night. (need I say more?) Saturday was more time with Laura and Anne Cerbus' surprise party. Sunday was yet more time with some Soma's (namely Josh and Laura ;-)) and that evening we went to Northside for church. That was great, as usual. Monday was play practice and that night bowling with Josh, Shan, and the other Elder gi'rls, Allen, Zachary, Maria, and Luke Nelson. We went 'duckpin' bowling down town and let me tell you, I STUNK! But Luke only got one more point that me and my 'team' won against the others. Needless to say, it was all good fun. Tuesday was another dreaded P.E. class...I ran 33 laps in like 10 mins, which is really bad, but still...I'm working on it. ;-) And I streched about 4 inches past my toes, which impressed me cuz I am totally non-flexible. Well, what do you know, here I've already told you about well over half my week without even really meaning to. Haha...I'll stop there. Most of you know what I've done lately anyway. Those were just some highlights. I will talk about World Views today because I have a relevant subject I want some opinions on. Nathan also had a bit about this on his blog. Rebekah Ray somehow kept bringing up the subject of cussing. She said she didn't like the fact that everyone considered it 'bad'. Her point was (I think) that if we didn't treat the words as wrong, they wouldn't be considered vulger etc. I've at times thought the exact same thing. But later in the class, Mrs. Ray mentioned a "Negro". Rebekah said that was an offensive term and that she shouldn't use it. I replied saying, "Rebekah, that's why people shouldn't cuss. It offends people." Mrs. Ray wouldn't let us elaborate on the subject, but I've been thinking about it and wondered what others thought. In one sense, it makes sense to not let cussing bother you by not treating those words as wrong. On the other hand, the words are used for swearing etc. and it simply is rather wrong to use them. It's offensive and, I believe, displeasing to God. What does everyone else think? Well, I'll leave you all with another great verse and then a great song: My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. --James 1:19-21-- Song of the post~Do You Believe in Me by The Juliana Theory Thanks to Scott Porter for introducing me to yet another great (from what I've heard so far ;-)) band.
