Hey everyone! I'm back once again! I thought I'd better update before I decide its too late with Christmas and Winter Conference coming up fast! ;-) Three days till Christmas and 6 days till Winter Conference, actually! Oh my goodness...so soon! And I can't wait! Also, there is beautiful snow on the ground outside, which I haven't taken the time to enjoy yet. :'( I know! Who wants to go sledding tomorrow? pick me pick me!!! Hehe. Seriously, if anyone wants to go (who lives near enough ;-)) then I say we designate a driver and do it! Oh I promised I'd write my opinion about the quote, so I better do that. Also, for some odd unknown reason, my computer won't let me see comments from anyone's blog! It annoys me greatly, but oh well I'll live. Now...for my thoughts that I'm sure you're all just DYING to read! haha here goes nothing -- Do you agree with the following quote: "The world is not going to get better and better. The Christian's hope is not in the gradual betterment of the world, but that Christ is coming back again." --Dr. Francis Schaeffer I agree with a bit of this, but disagree with most of it. The only part I agree with is that Christians do hope in the return of Christ, and that He is coming back again. I do not believe, however, that the world is only going to get worse. I will state my reasons why. First of all, before Christ accended into Heaven, He told His disciples, therefore telling us, to go into all the world and preach the gospel. If He didn't think we could accomplish this, than why would He say it? Also, Dr. Schaeffer's comment seems to "urge" Christians to just sit back and do nothing but hope and wait for Christ's return. I know that Christ does NOT want us to 'sit back and wait'. Although we are to hope, we are commanded to do things for His glory and to help bring more to His Kingdom in preparing for His return. Dr. Schaeffer may have been a wise man, but I do not think this was one of his wisest statements. Ok well that's what I wrote for an essay for my mom (for school). It may not be great, and I'm sure I could add to it and perfect it a lot more, but I don't have the time right now. But I must say a couple more things before ending this post. Sunday night, my brothers got the crazy idea to have Mary and Luke Hovee spend the night (haha noo that wasn't the crazy idea...although...noo j/k). Anyways, their crazy idea was to get up at 4:45 AM and go shopping!! Why so early!? Because we had World Views at 9:15 a.m. So I set my alarm, Mary and I talked for quite a while, and when I woke up at 4:45 I heard a few steps above my head (my brother's rooms) and decided that there was no way I was getting up and they prolly wouldn't either...so I layed there for a while thinking that they would come wake us up eventually. An hour later, Allen came in and told us it was time to get up if we wanted to go. So we dragged ourselves out of bed, got dressed, and ventured out into the cold morning - the sun not even up yet! I must admit, our trip to Micky D's and then K-Mart was quite fun and adventurous. There were like 10 people in the whole store! And the MacDonalds guy got a little annoyed with us, I think considering we kept changing our order - three cinnimon rolls...no wait two...no make that three...orr...yeah I guess three. Hehe. Goodwill and Deals and almost every other store didn't open till 8 or 9 so we went home, picked up a snack, our WV stuff, and Maria, and headed to those two stores. At 8:54 Mary, Maria, and I all rushed into an empty (except for one worker) Goodwill. We were stopped by the lady, who told us we still had 6 minutes!! So we shopped for a little bit...I just have to share that I got a shirt for $1 and a skirt for $ 1.75. And they were both from Charlotte Ruse (sp?)!! That excited me. So we were, of course as usual, late for WV. This time, Mrs. Ray wasn't very happy. In fact, she made a new rule that every time someone was late, the driver, or whoever's fault it was, had to write a 200 word essay on punctuality. Poor Allen had to be the first to suffer. So leaving for this Monday's session should be very interesting! Hoh boy, that was long...I think I'm having too much fun here! ;-) One last thing - we saw "The Series of Unfortunate Events" Monday night and I highly recomend it! Especially if you've read the books! And..ok more than one thing...this morning my dad came in my room at like 7 or 8 and threw a snowball at me! I was NOT a happy camper! Oh and I had my Christmas party last night. There were more gi'rls than I sorta expected (don't get me wrong I was really happy!). I think there were 21 people including Maria and I. We played games and had a "White elephant" type thing. At the end, instead of playing "Round Robin" we all went outside (everyone was really hyper and we needed to get some energy out, I guess!) and we played "blo'ody mur'der". I had fun scaring people, and they returned the favor! Hehe. Well, I had a great time and I hope everyone who was able to come did, too! Hopefully I'll see most of you at Winter Conference! Think this post can hold you all till then? I sure hope so cuz I may not update till I get back! And I know MOST OF YOU prolly just skimmed this because it's so long, and that's alright...but if you did, I want no complaints about me not posting! :-P Get it? Got it? Good. ;-) Song of the post~Scientist by Coldplay Charity | 9:13 am Comments-[ comments.] |
